2019 General Election

As your MP, I have tried to serve all, regardless of politics, race or religion.

I ask for your help in this election to fight for the interests of

East Preston, Kingston, Ferring, Rustington and Worthing West.

Together we have achieved much, at the bottom of this page is a short selection of certain long running campaigns. There is a great deal we can be proud of: saving and supporting Worthing Hospital which has been assessed as 'Outstanding'; helping Worthing College to relocate and to develop into an excellent place of learning and achievement; protecting our loved coastline from developments of excessive height; and providing personal and family confidential support in every street and every community.

There is more work to do: disabled access is improving in our town centres, they should be accessible to all; we've gained extra funding for local schools and continue to fight for more; the retired have gained greater protection; the railways are improving but disruption needs to be minimised and investment maximised; our local economy continues to need the support necessary to thrive for the benefit of all.

Below are my priorities for this General Election:

PROTECTING OUR LOCAL ENVIRONMENT

Campaign against the opportunitstic attempt to build on the Goring Gap; take Climate Change seriously; support sensible developments of vital, new, good quality homes through active engagement and co-operation with local residents and conservations groups.

SAFE, SECURE HOUSING
FOR EVERYONE

Work for legal reforms to protect leaseholders from being exploited; campaign for high quality, affordable new homes and greater protection for renters; improved help for homeless and for the groups that seek to assist people to move into secure accommodation

BACKING OUR
COUNCILS AND LOCAL SERVICES

Back our local councils to make key decisions locally; support local solutions for local issues such as traffic issues with the A27 and A259; defend our communities and their interests. Support our local services and the people who work hard for us; build on better funding and investment in our local schools, hospitals, GP surgeries and for more police on our streets.

FIGHTING FOR
VULNERABLE
COMMUNITIES

Engage with local services and charities to try to reduce homelessness; end injustice for minorities - based on age, race, faith, sexuality or identity;

combat those taking advantage of the vulnerable including high stake gambling addictions and institutional racism.

SUPPORTING OUR COASTAL ECONOMY

Work for greater investment and support for local businesses; minimise barriers to success for local enterprises and entrepeneurs; enable our coastal economy and town centres to thrive; push for faster internet across all communities; protect outdoor seating.

Constituents regularly contact me to express their concern on a particular cause.

Good causes, charities, campaign groups (including 38 Degrees), and others that encourage mass emailing sadly take time and resources away from my team and I in meeting the needs of individual constituents.

Do consider asking the organisers to write once: the point will get through.

If you have concerns about a campaign, please see if it is listed before. If it is not already covered, please do contact me.
